Building Volunteers

Volunteers support our classes and contribute to a nurturing learning environment. You can volunteer as often or as little as you want.

An elderly woman is assisting two young children with an activity at a table in a colorful, art-filled classroom environment.

Path to participation

We ask all volunteers to complete two quick steps before diving in. This helps keep our classrooms safe.

  • Volunteer expectations form: A brief look at how we work together to support our students.
  • Background check: A quick online form that stays valid for three years.

Volunteer expectations

We ask volunteers to follow these guidelines:

  • Respect student privacy: Keep all student information and classroom observations confidential.
  • Safety first: Always stay in sight of staff members and never be alone with a student.
  • Model our values: Please be a positive role model by being professional, kind, and following staff direction.
  • Check-in: Remember to sign in at the front office and wear your name tag.

Background checks

Background checks are required for volunteering in our school.

  • Cost: The background check costs $10.
  • One-and-done: Your background check covers all schools in the district.
  • Long-term access: You’re cleared for three years once approved.

You don’t need a check for lunch visits, concerts, or after-school performances. Contact the Meadow Ridge office if the $10 cost is a barrier.
